Should Fashion Be Considered As Art?
Is fashion really considered art? And if so, can it ever really be considered as such, or are fashionistas just as talented with their hands and minds as any artist?
It is true that some of the best and most interesting work of art ever created has been that done by the artists. The Renaissance painter pieces of Michelangelo were considered to be masterpieces, despite being extremely difficult to create at the time. Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions like the Mona Lisa were well received for being among the greatest artistic creations of all time.
It is hard to deny that great artists can create amazing works of art that capture the attention of many people around the world. It is equally hard to deny the fact that people have a fascination for art. While some people may consider the appreciation that people feel for art as an indulgence, others find that appreciation of the artistic beauty of things such as art, fashion, or music is a genuine form of appreciation.
Would you consider that the great painters of the past had any qualms about working through a difficult process, painting something they felt was important, even if they did not believe in the end result? Of course they would not. They would take risks, try new things, and ultimately, create something that was unique to them. Fashion designers, musicians, and writers do not necessarily have this same sense of risk or excitement. Most of the time, they do not even take the time to make something unique, and instead, they choose the most familiar, traditional elements of things.
Some people would say that this does not matter, as it is what makes the person who does the work so special. While that is certainly true, there is also a very real difference in quality when it comes to items created by the greats of art and items created by less accomplished artists. While a great painting can tell a story and capture the emotion of its viewers, an average painting might not do much more than provide the artist with a few ways to market his or her work. An average painter is simply using art to give a feeling of beauty to a room that otherwise would not be there. If a good painter paints a masterpiece that captures the imagination of many people, the end result is often a work of art that is seen only once or twice in its lifetime. and then left with no lasting impressions.
Work of this nature is what gives an artist the ability to be truly great at their craft. It allows them to work with their hands and brains in creative, meaningful ways. It allows them to not worry about the end result or how their work will look in someone else's home. A good work of art is an expression of the artist's imagination and creativity, something that is valued as a work of art by many people. In fact, when an artist creates an item of great beauty, it is often considered to be a work of great value.
