1.5 cup – whole wheat flour
1/4 cup – semolina
1/2 cup – sugar
1/2 cup – grated jaggery
1/2 tsp – cardamom powder
1 tsp – fennel powder
1/2 cup – grated coconut
2 tbsp – ghee
1/2 cup – warm milk
Oil for deep frying
A pinch of baking soda (if required)
How to Make Indian Thekua
Mix all the ingredients (except baking soda) with milk and knead into a stiff dough. Keep aside for 20 min.
Cut into small pieces in desired shape and size.
Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the thekuas in batches.
Or mix baking soda while mixing the dough and bake the thekuas in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 mins until golden on top.
Dust with some icing sugar before serving.
